Degree Program - Master Level

EQUIPPING STUDENTS THAT CHANGE THE WORLD FOR CHRIST!            
 
Admissions to the Master Degree Program is restricted to students who hold a baccalaureate degree from a recognized accredited institution which is approved and operating legally within the state of the institution's physical location.
 
Students must complete an application, pay appropriate fees, and have an official transcript sent to NLTS from the institution of their baccalaureate degree. Letters of recommendation must be provided, recommending acceptance and describing the candidate's character.
 
Master of Divinity
 
This graduate level area of study equips the student to be a servant leader in the area of pastoral ministry in urban areas and prepares the student to serve churches, non-profit and for-profit ministries, as well as the corporate world. Students develop a solid understanding of working in pastoral, counseling, and chaplaincy ministries with an understanding of and ability to minister to diverse people groups.  The degree consists of ninety-six credit hours of course work, research, practicums, interns, and thesis. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher to continue in the Master Degree program. Students are expected to follow the required curriculum specified for the degree concentration strictly.

This graduate degree program requires:

  • the completion of sixty credit hours of Core courses.
  • the completion of thirty-six credit hours in the area of concentration that includes a ten week internship.
Students are offered three concentrations (sometimes called majors). They are as follows:

  • Chaplaincy
  • Pastoral Counseling
  • Pastoral Studies

Master of Arts in Urban Christian Ministry
 
This graduate level area of study equips the student to be a servant leader in urban areas and prepares the student to serve churches and nonprofit ministries well into the future. Students develop a solid understanding of working with multi-ethnic and multi-racial congregations and ministries, and grasp methods of working with city and county governmental leaders to help advance their community efforts.  It consist of sixty-eight credit hours of course work, research, practicums, interns, and thesis. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher to continue in the Master Degree program. Students are expected to follow the required curriculum specified for the degree concentration strictly.

This graduate degree program requires:

  • the completion of twelve semester hours in General Studies. These hours include thirty-two hours of field experience, visiting government centers, touring areas of the city, and/or practicums.
  • the completion of twelve hours electives related to the concentration.
  • the completion of thirty-two semester hours in the area of concentration.
Students are offered four concentrations (sometimes called majors). They are as follows:
  • Biblical Studies
  • Church Planting
  • Divinity
  • Youth/Music
